Rules & information
Welcome to the Team Pickleball Tournament! Expect play to go most of the day. There is a cost of $20 per person to cover the cost of court rental and event insurance. Team Pickleball Format - Team Pickleball follows the original Major League Pickleball format; here are the basics: There are four players on a Team - two men, two ladies. Each match is a best of 4 games: one ladies' doubles game, one men's doubles game, and two Mixed doubles games. If each team wins 2 games, the tie will be a Dreambreaker singles game to 25 points where each player plays four rallies in a set order. Every match will play all four games, regardless of the outcome. Team Pickleball Rules of Play Games are played to 21 points (win by two and must serve to win) and are scored with rally scoring. Teams will switch sides at 11 points and 13 points in the Dreambreaker. Players do not switch court sides. There is a right player and a left player. If the score is even, the player on the right serves; if the score is odd, the player on the left serves. Serving team faults always result in a side out; there is no first or second server. We will be playing tournament service rules. If a served ball touches the net and continues to land in the correct service court, play will be stopped, and the ball will be re-served. If a served ball touches the net and does not continue to the correct service court, it is a fault. Players call faults and out of bounds - please stop play on calls - if a call is contested, replay the point. Matches will be played in the following order: Ladies Doubles, Men's Doubles, Mixed Doubles (2). The Team with the lowest number will serve first in Game 1 and then will alternate in the following games (for instance, in a game between Team 1 and Team 2, Team 1 will serve first in Game 1, Team 2 will serve first in Game 2, and so on). Prior to the start of mixed doubles, a coin flip will determine who will set their lineup first in mixed doubles (there is strategy here), Once the first team sets their lineup, the other will set theirs. If the match results in a Dreambreaker, the team that set their lineup second will go first. Teams are allowed one 30-second timeout per game. Please limit any needed warmups to 2 minutes; we need to move play along. The event will be governed by the 2026 Official Rules of USA Pickleball. All Paddles must be USAPA-approved. No banned paddles will be permitted. Tournament Pickleball: Selkirk Pro S1 Outdoor Pickleball will be provided.
